What is facial acupuncture?
Facial acupuncture is a gentle approach to supporting skin health and aging well. It combines principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with cosmetic and therapeutic techniques. Treatment uses fine needles on the face, and on the body too.
Why do people come in for it?
People usually book facial acupuncture because they want to support their skin, for example fine lines, puffiness, dullness, or tension around the jaw and forehead. Very often that comes alongside stress, sleep, or hormone changes, which is exactly why every session includes your body as well as your face.
What can facial acupuncture do for my skin?
Facial acupuncture is designed to support healthy circulation, the skin's natural repair processes and the release of facial tension.
Research on facial acupuncture is still early, and larger studies are needed to understand its effects on the skin.
My approach focuses on understanding your skin, your health, and your goals. Together, we'll create a personalized treatment plan, monitor your progress, and make adjustments along the way.
The goal isn't to reverse aging, but to support your skin in aging well.
What to expect
Facial acupuncture is usually done as a series. A typical series is 5 to 7 sessions, weekly or every two weeks, followed by monthly maintenance.
- Step 190 minutes
Your first visit
We start with your health history and what you'd like to focus on, for your skin and for the rest of your health. Then we do your first treatment, on your face and body.
- Step 25 to 7 sessions
Your series
Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, weekly or every two weeks.
- Step 3Monthly
Maintenance
Once your series is done, sessions move to once a month.
A single session before a big event isn't how I approach facial acupuncture.
If you're looking for a one-time quick fix, this probably isn't the right fit, and that's okay.
Is facial acupuncture right for me?
It isn't the right choice for everyone or every moment. If you're not sure, send me your question before you book in, and I'll point you to the best next step.
Ready to start a series?
Your first visit is 90 minutes, so give yourself a little time afterwards to ease back into your day.

Good to know before you book
- Fees
- Fees can be found on the booking page.
- Direct Billing Insurance
- We are not set up for direct billing. Receipts are issued after the visit with all the information necessary for patients to submit to their insurance provider.
- Credit Card
- We require a credit card to be held on file for your appointments. If you are not comfortable leaving a credit card number on file, we cannot book you an appointment.
- Cancellation Policy
- We have a 48-hour cancellation policy. Appointments cancelled with 24 to 48 hours' notice are charged 50% of the visit fee. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, on the day of the visit, or missed are charged the full visit fee.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it painful?
- The needles are much finer than the ones used for blood tests or injections. Most of the time the feeling is a light tap or a brief pinch, and if anything feels uncomfortable, tell me and we adjust.
- How many sessions will I need?
- It's usually done as a series: 5 to 7 sessions, weekly or every two weeks, followed by monthly maintenance.
- Can I book just one session before an event?
- With me, facial acupuncture is done as a series, so a single session before an event isn't how I approach it.
- Is it covered by insurance?
- Receipts are provided after each visit and list facial acupuncture as a naturopathic visit, so you can submit them to your extended health plan under naturopathic care. Coverage depends on your plan, so check with your provider before you book in.
